Oven Cookies Burn On Bottom

La Paz - Bolivia - April 24 to May 2

After passing the border Bolivian carefree particular, through the National Park Sajama (named after its volcano) where herds of alpaca and vicuña follow, rode 300 km on the Altiplano (a road almost perfect straight line when we is still at 3500 meters or more, it's weird ...) we finally arrive in La Paz and night ... and by
heights El Alto, a city in the city, district People mainly inhabited by Aymara (Indian) and located more than over 4000 meters.

we "descend" and cross all La Paz. Useless clear that the journey was pretty sporty with cars in all directions (80% of minibus and taxi) honking instead of braking, pedestrians crossing everywhere, and a road not always enlightened (especially in El Alto ), a short finish that puts us right away in the bath this very busy city.

We therefore arrive at the Hotel Oberland in the southern city, a well-known address of the camping car owners, it is possible to bivouac in the garden. Security for the camper, health, children's playground, an indoor pool, WiFi (luxury for which we are accustomed to Internet cafes) and moreover altitude (3200 meters) more tolerable for a good night ... And all this at half the center of La Paz in bus, in short, a good place!

We will stay there for ten days, and spend 3 days with Francis Armelle and we once again left with a lot of fun. Antoine never tires of playing with their brooms and keeps asking where to spend "Amelle!

And what was our surprise at the end of our stay to see happen in the garden of the hotel a registered camper French "26" ... The Drôme in South America!

Our discovery Bolivia begins in the capital, the highest in the world, staged from 3200 meters - where we sleep, a chance! - Over 4000 meters.
Hotel is located in the rich neighborhood, down the city while the neighborhoods are located at the top. We find very beautiful houses, all kinds of international brands ... no one imagines Bolivia (60% of the population lives below the poverty line).

buses or "minibus" taxis or lead us in the center. Many people, traffic, horns, buses, markets of all kinds every street corner ... it's bustling.
Many color too, with all these women in traditional dress (the Chollas) who wear their babies, or merchandise on the back, and also in the many shops crammed sweatshirts, hats, shawls, fabrics, carpets and blankets ... The city is really full of life, and is a pleasure to walk. An happiness as for the "shopping" nothing is expensive here!

Anyway, this city seems far from the image that we are doing. The (very) real poverty is far from certain cartoons that we could do. People are pleasant, cheerful and easy contact, begging rather unobtrusive, and a real sense of security with us everywhere. We walk (and climb!) Very quietly in the streets,
Its location in the heart of the Andes, collected in a valley surrounded by mountains, is truly amazing in an environment where no one would think possible to build a city.

Now heading south to Bolivia ... Potosi, Uyuni and Sucre ...
